Koldo looking for stages in Spain

Euskaltel's in-form fast-man Koldo Fernández has outlined his objective in the Vuelta a España, commencing tomorrow: winning a stage. The Álava native has enjoyed a rather barren season to date, with only one win to his name; a stage in the recently-concluded Vuelta a Burgos. A lot of his lack of wins is down to positioning he admits. "I'm bad at positioning myself in the peloton", he said, revealing one of the more worst-kept secrets in the peloton. "This makes me spend a lot of energy just to get into the right position, and when it's time to sprint I miss that extra kick". He also went on to admit that his lack of results thus far in 2010 is making it harder. "I'm not tranquilo when I'm riding, and that makes it more difficult", he told his own website. He still maintains that a stage-win is his goal though, and it's hoped the inclusion of Pablo Urtasun in the squad can help bring him where he needs to be inside the final few clicks. Obiously the mass-sprints is where he'll hope to break his GT duck, but he's not discarding the opportunity of getting into breaks either.
