Gaztañaga dreams of Euskaltel move


Gipuzkoan sprinter Mikel Gaztañaga Echeverria has spoken of his dream to one day ride for Euskaltel. The 27-year-old, who joined Agritubel this year after a year at Colombian team Atom, said during an interview with Spanish newspaper DEIA that his ultimate dream was to one day ride for his home-team. Gaztañaga raised eyebrows last year when he on several occasions showed his qualities in bunch-sprint finishes. These qualities landed him a brilliant win in the annual Basque one-day race Circuito de Getxo, to go with stage-wins in the Vuelta Ciclista a la Comunidad de Madrid, an overall win in the Tour de Vendée and lots of second places. As Gaztañaga is on a two-year deal with Agritubel, we won`t see him in an Euskaltel shirt just yet for sure. But who knows, maybe in the future...
